Her parents are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. Her father is an engineering while her mother works as a realtor. Walker went to her school at the Germantown Friends School of Philadelphia's Germantown in 1994, and was awarded an award in 1994. She then attended Harvard College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck located in Philadelphia and the couple has two kids. The couple began their relationship in the year 2014.
